“I would like to thank all at Physio4Life for all their support this year. It is a wonderful place to go and work on my strength training and conditioning. To work with professionals in all aspects of my conditioning is important to the success I have on the golf course.”
Oliver Wilson is an English professional golf from Mansfield, England, where his golfing career began at Coxmoor Golf Club. After playing collegiately at Augusta State University, Wilson turned professional in 2003 and played on the Challenge Tour in 2004. He finished 15th on the Order of Merit list and moved up to the European Tour. He improved year-on-year, finishing 97th on the Order of Merit in 2005, 71st in 2006, 30th in 2007, 11th in 2008 and 7th in 2009.
Oliver became the first player in history to be chosen to represent Europe against the Americans without first winning a professional tournament. Wilson automatically qualified for the 2008 European Ryder Cup Team by finishing 10th in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
In the opening tournament of the 2009 Race to Dubai, the HSBC Champions, Wilson recorded yet another runner-up finish. In March 2009, he recorded a top-5 finish in the WGC-CA Championship. Wilson was also runner-up in the 2009 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
2010 was a less successful year, where Wilson never finished higher than 5th, although he still finished in the top 50 of the Order of Merit. 2011 was also a disappointing year for Oliver; he lost his full playing privileges on the European Tour, in a year wracked by illness and a loss of form. He decided not to go to the Tour’s final qualifying stage at PGA Catalunya Resort, instead relying on his existing category to get some starts for the 2012 Tour year.
The former Ryder Cup player now has a new coach, Graham Walker, the lead coach to the England A squad and technical coach to the U18 squad, based at The Oaks Golf Club, near Bubwith, Yorkshire, who should get his swing back on track for the first tournament of 2012 in South Africa.

In 2006 Oliver pledged his support to the National Anti Drugs Charity, DARE UK. DARE shares knowledge and skills to avoid harmful drugs, including alcohol and tobacco. DARE actively promotes the use of healthy sporting activities during and outside the school environment. The key message is to promote healthy living and make positive life affirming choices in relation to drugs, violence, tobacco, alcohol and other harmful substances, as well as promote a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of the various programmes is to develop a sense of responsibility in children and adolescents, and give them the skills to identify and withstand peer pressure.
The Oliver Wilson DARE Golf Day is now an annual fundraising event, which has gone from strength to strength to raising much needed funds for this worthwhile charity.
