INJURY TITLE
Posterior Lateral Corner ‘PLC’ injuries to the knee. |
INJURY OVERVIEW
Problems with the structures at the back and outside of the knee. The structures there are very influential in controlling unwanted rotation in the knee. |
INJURY IN-DEPTH INFORMATION
The most common mechanisms of injury to the posterolateral corner involve an over-straightening injury (contact or non-contact), direct trauma to the knee, and noncontact sideways force to the knee. Injuries to the posterolateral corner can be debilitating to patients and require prompt diagnosis and treatment to avoid long term consequences. Injuries to the PLC often occur in combination with other ligamentous injuries to the knee; most commonly the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). |

Put an ‘X’ next to each health professional that most commonly deals with this injury.
i.e. tennis elbow would be Physio and Medic as injections are common, whereas for muscular LBP it would be Physio and not Medic as they would just refer them to a Physio.
